Cooler Temperatures Lead To Better Sleep

December 20, 2010

Everyone knows that sleeping in a hot climate can be challenging - restless nights and the ensuing tossing and turning always seem to increase with the temperature. But why?

“When you go to sleep, your set point for body temperature -- the temperature your brain is trying to achieve -- goes down,” says H. Craig Heller, PhD, professor of biology at Stanford University, who wrote a chapter on temperature and sleep for a medical textbook. “Think of it as the internal thermostat.” If it’s too hot, the body struggles to achieve this set point, causing some to wake up, and others to not be able to fall asleep at all.
Generally, Heller says, “if you are in a cooler [environment], it is easier for that to happen.” The mild drop in body temperature induces sleep.

Michael Rothbard, President of Sleep Studio says, “Besides moving north or cranking up the costly air conditioning, there are small steps that you can take to alter your sleep environment to keep nights cooler and improve your sleep. Our Blueflex® technology was created with this specific set of sleep criteria in mind.”

Introducing Blueflex® Technolgoy: The Next Generation of Memory Foam

Traditional memory foam products may be comfortable, but they can increase your body temperature due to poor air circulation in the foam. These traditional products trap heat from the body, leading to an uncomfortably warm sleeping surface.

To ensure the best sleep possible, Sleep Studio has created new Blueflex® technology with the unique capability to neutralize body heat and wick away moisture. Blueflex® products create an ideal sleeping environment of cool, dry nights, with five times the air circulation of traditional memory foam products. Only Blueflex® can boast a superior memory foam experience with superb temperature control. That means cooler nights with Blueflex®, even if you live in warmer climates.

The patented technology found in Blueflex® is the result of years of development and research. It all begins with Sleep Studio’s original ViscoFresh® memory foam, and then benefits from the powerful addition of gel. The new Blueflex® hybrid maintains all the ViscoFresh® trademark benefits of temperature control, while providing even more support where you need it the most.
